Summer vacation is finally here! While this is a time for relaxation and fun, learning never stops. Students can lose at least 2-3 months of their reading and math skills over the summer if they do not continue to be actively engaged with grade appropriate material. This is especially critical for minorities and low income students. I was thinking of ways to continue my children's learning during the summer in a way that promoted growth in not just language arts and math but also develop their minds culturally and socially. Furthermore, I hope to cultivate their spirits into well rounded 21st century learners and citizens. From this, the Jones Summer Academy (JSA) was born. Follow along with us as we live, love, learn and play together. After all, who better to edify and uplift our children than us?
